Lactic acid bacteria are found in many fermented foods: Streptococcus thermophilus, for example, is one of the two traditional yoghurt cultures, and Lactococcus lactis is used to make many cheeses. Bifidobacteria, for their part, are among the bacteria naturally present in the human gut microbiota.

Vivomixx neo 9 combines nine identified strains of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria, from eight different species. Each sachet provides a total of 460 billion colony-forming units (CFU).

Two strains lead the formula: Lacticaseibacillus paracasei IMC 502 and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus IMC 501, which on their own account for 380 billion CFU per sachet. The other seven strains complete the blend, with 9 to 26 billion CFU each.

Why choose Vivomixx neo 9 460?

Vivomixx neo 9 is the revised formulation of the Vivomixx range. Each of the nine strains is designated by its strain code, and the amount provided by each strain, expressed in CFU, is stated in the composition.

The sachet format provides 460 billion CFU in a single daily serving: simply pour the powder into a glass of cold water.

The formula is free from gluten, lactose, soy and milk proteins; it contains no preservatives, colourings or artificial sweeteners, and is suitable for vegetarians.

The bacteria are freeze-dried, which allows them to be kept as a powder. The product is stored in the refrigerator, but can be kept out of the fridge for up to one week, away from heat: convenient when travelling.

The box of 10 sachets covers 10 days of use.

What does science say?

The classification of lactobacilli was thoroughly revised in 2020: the former genus Lactobacillus was split into 25 genera, hence the names Lacticaseibacillus and Lactiplantibacillus used in the composition. Lactobacillus acidophiluskeeps its original name.

The code following each species name (IMC 501, Bbr8, SP38…) designates a specific strain: two strains of the same species can have different characteristics, which is why research focuses on strains rather than on species alone.

Lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria are the subject of extensive research. To date, however, no health claim has been authorised in the European Union for these microorganisms.

Maltose, blend of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria (Lacticaseibacillus paracasei IMC 502, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus IMC 501, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus SP1, Bifidobacterium breve Bbr8, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp.lactis BLC1, Lactobacillus acidophilus LA1, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 14D, Lactococcus lactis SP38, Streptococcus thermophilus SP4), maize starch, anti-caking agent: magnesium salts of fatty acids.

Recommended daily dose:

1 sachet per day, preferably on an empty stomach: in the morning, ideally 30 minutes before breakfast, or 1 to 2 hours after the last evening meal. Open the sachet, pour the contents into 100mL of cold still water, stir and drink immediately.
