Benefits
Trimethylglycine (TMG), better known as betaine, owes its name to the beet (Beta vulgaris L.), in which it was first identified. This trimethylated derivative of glycine is naturally present in the diet — beetroot, spinach, wheat germ, seafood — and in the body itself.
Biochemically, betaine is described as a methyl-group donor, involved in the major balances of metabolism, and as an osmolyte, studied for its role in cellular water balance. In its anhydrous form, it differs from betaine HCl: the latter is a salt combined with hydrochloric acid, used for digestive purposes related to gastric acidity, whereas anhydrous TMG is the nutritional, non-acidifying form — two ingredients sharing a name but with quite distinct uses.
The anhydrous form selected here offers a density advantage: with no water of crystallization, every gram corresponds entirely to active betaine, unlike the monohydrate or HCl forms. Purity is standardized at a minimum of 99%, verified by HPLC.
Why choose Dynveo's TMG?
DuraBeet® grade betaine is 100% plant-based and European: extracted from sugar beets grown in Europe, it is manufactured in Austria, in Tulln, using a purely physical separation and purification process — with no chemical synthesis and no organic solvents. The supply chain follows an upcycling approach that makes full use of the natural fractions of the sugar beet, at a low-emission production site, with long-term partnerships with farmers.
True to the Dynveo clean label, the formula is a mono-ingredient in the strictest sense: betaine and a plant-based pullulan capsule, with no additives or excipients whatsoever. The product is vegan and GMO-free, with heavy metals controlled under an HACCP approach and FSSC- and ISO 50001-certified sites. The crystalline anhydrous betaine also benefits from a documented 3-year stability in its closed packaging.
The product is particularly intended for people whose diet provides few natural sources of betaine and choline — beetroot, spinach, quinoa, whole grains, eggs — as well as for periods when the body's water balance is under greater demand: heat, increased perspiration, sauna, outdoor work or travel.
Each capsule provides 400mg of TMG in a single daily intake, and the 120-capsule bottle covers four full months of use.
What does science say?
Betaine has an authorized health claim at European level — the contribution to normal homocysteine metabolism — but its conditions of use require a portion of at least 500mg and consumer information stating that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 1.5g of betaine: thresholds above this product's daily dose, which therefore makes no claim. Betaine is also the subject of numerous scientific studies, particularly in sports and metabolic physiology, freely available on PubMed.
Note: food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
