Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids — eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) — are essential nutrients that the human body synthesises only in very limited amounts. They must therefore be supplied regularly through the diet, mainly via the consumption of oily fish (anchovy, sardine, mackerel, herring, salmon).
European nutritional surveys show that most of the population does not reach the recommended intakes of EPA and DHA. This gap is explained by insufficient consumption of oily fish, but also by an overall dietary imbalance marked by an excess of omega-6 (refined vegetable oils, processed products) at the expense of omega-3.
DHA is a major component of the cell membranes of the brain and retina, where it plays a structural and functional role. EPA is involved in the regulation of physiological processes related to cardiovascular function and membrane fluidity.
The quality of a fish oil nevertheless depends on strict criteria: origin of the fish, purification method, removal of contaminants (heavy metals, dioxins, PCBs), oxidative stability and effective EPA and DHA content.

Super Omega-3 is based on a Pure+™ wild fish oil concentrate providing 1000mg per capsule, of which 350mg of EPA and 250mg of DHA. At the daily dose of two capsules, the formula delivers 1200mg of combined EPA and DHA, nearly five times the 250mg threshold set by EFSA for normal heart function.
The oil is processed within hours of the catch, then purified by molecular distillation to remove synthetic and natural contaminants. It is IFOS™ 5-star certified, the highest level of the independent standard established by SGS Nutrasource for the purity, potency and freshness of fish oils.
The enteric coating delays the release of the contents beyond the stomach: the capsule is therefore better tolerated by people prone to reflux, and the addition of a natural lemon flavour removes the fishy aftertaste frequently reported with omega-3 supplements.
The formula is completed by 150mg of Polyphen-Oil™ olive extract (fruit and leaf), standardised in polyphenols, hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, verbascoside and oleuropein, together with 5mg of sesame seed lignan extract. These two plant extracts characterise the formula and distinguish it from a plain fish oil; they are not the subject of health claims authorised at European level.
What does science say?
At the daily dose of two capsules, Super Omega-3 provides 700mg of EPA and 500mg of DHA. These levels allow the following health claims, validated by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), to be made:
· DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA);
· DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA);
· EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of EPA and DHA).
To fully benefit from these effects, the recommended daily dose must be respected and integrated within a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
A traceable and controlled raw material
The Pure+™ concentrate comes from a South Pacific fishery operating off the Chilean coast under marine-mammal-safe practices. The species used are small fish at the bottom of the food chain, which accumulate fewer contaminants than large predators.
Each batch undergoes the IFOS™ analytical protocol, which verifies the actual EPA and DHA content, the absence of heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs above regulatory thresholds, as well as oxidation indices. The formula is non-GMO and gluten free.

Recommended daily dose:
2 capsules per day, taken in two divided doses, during a meal.
