Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst.) is a wood-decaying mushroom with a characteristic glossy reddish-brown surface, which grows on certain types of wood. Known in China as Lingzhi, it has held an emblematic place in Asian tradition for more than two thousand years.
Its sporophore, the fruiting body that forms the visible part of the mushroom, contains many compounds, notably beta-glucan polysaccharides and triterpenes, including the ganoderic acids characteristic of the genus Ganoderma.
MUSHROOMSSENTIEL® Reishi combines organically grown reishi sporophore powder and extract with two micro-encapsulated microbiota strains, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BS01.

Each capsule provides 250mg of reishi powder and 500mg of reishi extract titrated to 30% polysaccharides, together with 2 billion CFU of microbiota strains, with a flexible intake of one to two capsules per day. The extract has an 8:1 extraction ratio, equivalent to 4g of mushroom per 500mg of extract.
The two forms complement each other: the powder retains the whole matrix of the mushroom (fibre, polysaccharides, triterpenes, proteins, minerals), while the extract, obtained by aqueous extraction without organic solvents, concentrates its water-soluble polysaccharides.
The reishi is grown organically and only the fruiting body is used, without any growing substrate. After gentle drying, the mushrooms are very finely ground using the so-called “shellbroken” method, which mechanically breaks the cell walls. The polysaccharide content is checked by size-exclusion chromatography, a technique that also confirms the identity of the species.
The two microbiota strains are individually micro-encapsulated using Probio-Protect® technology, in gastro-resistant plant-based capsules.
The formula follows the laboratory's Clean Label® approach: no colourings, no artificial flavourings and no nanoparticles. Made in France, the product is suitable for vegans and contains no gluten- or lactose-based ingredients. The 60-capsule bottle covers one to two months of use, depending on the chosen dosage.
What does science say?
Reishi polysaccharides, particularly beta-glucans, and its triterpenes are the subject of extensive research. However, the health claims proposed for reishi, as for most plants and mushrooms, are still awaiting evaluation at European level, and no health claim has been authorised to date for microbiota strains.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG is one of the most studied microbiota strains in the world; in 2020 the species was reclassified in the genus Lacticaseibacillus.
