• 1 g of patented 2’-fucosyllactose (Care4U®) – a fucosylated sugar obtained via natural fermentation and purified to 98%, ensuring very high quality. 2’-fucosyllactose is a natural sugar (oligosaccharide) produced in the human body by the enzyme fucosyltransferase 2 (FUT-2). It is abundant in the intestines. Some individuals lack this enzyme and cannot produce 2’-fucosyllactose;

• 50 mg of L-serine and 200 mg of L-threonine – two amino acids involved in mucin production.

Intestinal mucus is composed of proteins (mucins), carbohydrates, and water. It helps hydrate mucous membranes and protect intestinal epithelial cells. Among the sugars in mucus, 2’-fucosyllactose (2’-FL) is abundant and ensures mucus quality, promoting bifidobacteria colonization and microbiota diversity.

2’-FL is also found in human breast milk and is produced by the enzyme fucosyltransferase 2 (FUT-2). However, in 20% of the Caucasian population, this enzyme is non-functional, resulting in an inability to produce 2’-FL. This leads to thinner, more permeable mucus, contributing to microbiota imbalance, inflammation, and increased risk of infections commonly seen in IBD (inflammatory bowel diseases).
