The highest concentrations of L-taurine are found in the muscles and the heart. We can produce L-taurine from the amino acids L-cysteine and L-methionine. This conversion requires a sufficient amount of vitamin B6. Taurine deficiency mainly occurs in vegans and people with diabetes. However, stress can also lead to reduced taurine levels.
