One bottle containing 225 mg of iron polysaccharide (equivalent to 100 mg of Fe3+) per 5 ml, to prevent deficiencies and treat iron deficiency anemia.
Product Details & Mandatory Information:
FERRICURE
Ferricure® contains, as its active ingredient, an extremely water-soluble iron–polysaccharide complex characterized by a low molecular weight and an iron content (ferric content) of approximately 46%. The iron in Ferricure® is present in ferric form. The iron–polysaccharide complex (ferric polysaccharide) results from a chemical complexation of iron with polysaccharides derived from the partial hydrolysis of starch under specific conditions. This complex contains a higher ferric content (46%) compared to ferrous salts.
Iron is an essential element for the formation of hemoglobin and for oxidation processes in living tissues. It is also a key component of myoglobin (which is necessary for oxygen supply to the muscles) and of many enzymes involved in cellular respiration and biotransformation, such as cytochromes, catalase, and oxidases.
In adults, iron content (ferric content) is around 60 mg per kg of body weight. Daily physiological losses — estimated at 1 mg in men and 2–3 mg in women — must be offset by equivalent dietary intake (i.e. intake from food). Daily iron requirements are estimated as follows:
10 mg for men;
12 to 15 mg for women and adolescents;
10 mg for children;
30 mg during pregnancy;
15 mg while breastfeeding.
Note: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
Ingredients:
Syrup: ferric polysaccharide complex (225 mg per 5 ml), providing 100 mg of Fe+++.
Recommended Daily Dose:
Usual adult dosage: 1 capsule per day, to be taken half an hour before a meal or without food.
The dosage can be increased if necessary to a maximum of 2 capsules per day, divided into two doses.
Dosage for children:
Children aged 0 to 2 years: 2 drops per kg of body weight, 3 times daily
Children aged 2 to 6 years: 50 drops, 2 times daily
Children aged 6 to 12 years: ½ teaspoon, 2 times daily
It is generally accepted that daily doses of 40 to 100 mg are sufficient to prevent 80–90% of iron deficiency cases in pregnant women.
Recommended daily dose for breastfeeding women: 10 mg.
