FERRASORB
Dietary Supplement

Iron is essential for the formation and proper function of red blood cells. An adequate intake of iron in the diet is necessary for red blood cells to efficiently transport oxygen throughout the body. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), up to 16% of individuals in certain populations are iron-deficient.

Individuals at risk of iron or B vitamin deficiency include:

  • Those seeking nutritional support for anemia

  • Women of childbearing age

  • People following vegetarian or vegan diets

  • Older adults or those with low stomach acid

  • Individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery

  • People with intestinal conditions affecting nutrient absorption

  • Individuals with autoimmune disorders

Signs of iron deficiency:

  • Fatigue or weakness

  • Shortness of breath

  • Pale skin

  • Cold hands and feet

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

  • Changes in menstrual cycles

  • Decreased athletic performance

Iron is difficult for the body to absorb, and supplementation with conventional forms of iron, such as ferrous sulfate, often causes gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, or dark stools.
Ferrasorb contains iron in the form of bisglycinate (Ferrochel®), a chelated form that is better absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, helping reduce common side effects of iron supplementation.*

Why include vitamin cofactors?

Iron is not the only nutrient necessary for healthy red blood cells. A deficiency in B vitamins can also negatively affect red blood cell formation.

Signs of B vitamin deficiency:

  • Fatigue or muscle weakness

  • Mood imbalances

  • Mouth sores or tongue pain

  • Memory or cognitive problems

  • Tingling or "pins and needles" sensations

Ferrasorb combines active forms of vitamin B6 (pyridoxal 5'-phosphate), vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin), and folate (L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate), along with vitamin C and a well-absorbed form of iron, to provide comprehensive nutritional support for anemia.*

Features of Thorne’s Ferrasorb:

  • Iron in chelated form for optimal absorption*

  • Reduced GI side effects such as nausea and constipation*

  • Provides 36 mg of elemental iron per capsule as Ferrochel® chelate

  • Active forms of vitamins B6, B12, and folate, plus vitamin C for enhanced red blood cell support*

Note: Dietary supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.

  • Interactions: 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) supplementation is not recommended during methotrexate cancer therapy, as it may interfere with its anti-neoplastic action. However, this folate source has not been shown to interfere with methotrexate’s anti-inflammatory effects. Individuals taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.

  • Additional Warning: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.
