Benefits

Diindolylmethane (DIM) is an indole compound derived from cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. These vegetables contain glucobrassicin, a glucosinolate that releases indole-3-carbinol (I3C) through the action of a plant enzyme, myrosinase, during chewing and digestion. In the acidic environment of the stomach, two molecules of I3C then condense to form one molecule of DIM.

PHYSIOMANCE® DIM provides this compound in a concentrated, standardised form: each capsule contains 100mg of DIM from a young broccoli sprout extract titrated to 20%.

Why choose Therascience DIM?

Developed by Laboratoire Therascience as part of its PHYSIOMANCE® range, this DIM comes from a young broccoli sprout extract (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Plenck). Harvested at an early stage of development, the sprouts are naturally rich in glucosinolates, notably glucobrassicin, from which DIM derives.

The extract is obtained through a standardised extraction process and titrated to 20% diindolylmethane, for a consistent DIM content from batch to batch. Each capsule provides 100mg of DIM, with a flexible intake of one to two capsules per day.

The single-ingredient formula follows the laboratory's Clean Label® approach: apart from the extract, it contains only acacia gum as a bulking agent, in a plant-based hydroxypropyl methylcellulose capsule. It is suitable for vegans and contains no gluten- or lactose-based ingredients.

The 60-capsule bottle covers one to two months of use, depending on the chosen dosage.

What does science say?

Chemically, DIM (3,3'-diindolylmethane) is formed by the condensation of two indole-3-carbinol molecules in an acidic environment. As I3C is unstable in the stomach, pharmacokinetic studies show that it is DIM, not I3C, that is found in the blood after indole-3-carbinol intake.

DIM is the subject of extensive research. To date, however, no health claim has been authorised in the European Union for this compound.

Note: Food supplements should not replace a balanced and varied diet.
