Heavy metals are metallic elements presenting a high atomic weight, such as arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and aluminum (Al). Finally, Phase III corresponds to elimination: the transformed substances are transported by specific systems and directed toward excretion pathways, such as the intestines, urine, or sweat, to be permanently removed from the body.”
