What is chrysin?

Chrysin is a compound belonging to the flavone family, itself part of the large group of flavonoids — the plant pigments found in a great many fruits, vegetables and plants. Its chemical name, 5,7-dihydroxyflavone, simply describes its structure: a flavone backbone carrying two hydroxyl groups.

In nature, chrysin has been identified notably in the blue passion flower (Passiflora caerulea), in honeycomb and propolis, and in Oroxylum indicum, a tree long used in South-East Asian traditions.

One point is important for understanding this product: the chrysin presented here is not a plant extract but the isolated, purified molecule. It is dosed at 500 mg per capsule, an amount far greater than any everyday food can provide.
